WACKO MARIA Reworks McGregor Outerwear for Fall/Winter 2017
In case your closet needs more leopard print.
Japanese streetwear staple WACKO MARIA taps New York’s McGregor for a concise collection of outerwear. Nearing its 100th anniversary, McGregor’s understated pieces are revised with exclusive fabrics and patterning.
Sourcing fabric from Italy’s Lanificio Luigi Zanieri, the release sees staple McGregor items getting the louche WACKO MARIA treatment. The American brand’s “Drizzler” jacket, the country’s first water-resistant jacket of its type, remains relatively unchanged on the outside, with its angled jet pockets and adjustable armholes intact. However, the fabric has been upgraded with WACKO MARIA’s exclusive wool gabardine and the ordinary lining has been jettisoned in favor of a series of bold leopard patterns. Two gown coats, executed in WACKO MARIA’s preferred ombre check pattern, feature patch pockets and a removable belt.
The collection retails for approximately $280 USD – $530 USD, and releases on WACKO MARIA’s website on November 11. This isn’t the only “McGregor” collaboration WACKO MARIA is readying, as the brand has designed a jacket in tandem with Japan’s Rags McGREGOR.
