Police Shutdown NikeLab 21 Mercer's Release of Air Jordan 1 "Top 3"
The latest lineup to get out of hand.
With resale prices for the Air Jordan 1 “Top 3” reaching $1,500 USD, sneakerheads looking to get their hands on the coveted shoe lined up for the instore-only Cyber Monday drop. Although most releases went smoothly, the NYPD had to shutdown NikeLab’s 21 Mercer location when the line outside the shop got out of hand.
In a video posted to YouTube, the queue of sneakerheads braving the cold became too big for the street and spilled onto the road drawing law enforcement over to control the crowd. After dealing with the responding police officers, NikeLab 21 Mercer store officials made the decision to cancel the store’s release leaving sneakerheads that waited for hours disappointed and confused. No word yet if NikeLab 21 Mercer is planning to reschedule its release, but stay tuned for more information when details become available.
