NEON SIGN Readies Loose Layers for Spring/Summer 2018

The lookbook features models in high-heels and branded underwear.

Following up on a cohesive Spring/Summer 2017 offering, Japan’s NEON SIGN returns with a tongue-in-cheek lookbook for Spring/Summer 2018. Besides showing off its relaxed-cut clothes, the brand playfully adds Photoshop’s transparent background to each image.

Besides the amusing juxtaposition of high-heels and wide jeans, each look emphasizes the buzzy Japanese brand’s preferred oversized styling. Big sweaters and long shirts mesh, creating laid-back, sizeable silhouettes. A great deal of the selection reformats Western staples with typically askew Japanese design elements — a denim trucker jacket features dangling hems and a cropped body, college-style sweaters are cut wider and feature extended neck openings and shirts are granted imposing collars. Branded underwear and bandanas complement the range, as do occasional graphic hits and branding on the lower front of outerwear.

Expect the range to arrive at NEON SIGN stockists like Bora Bora and KIKUNOBU early next year. For more Japanese goods, check out the new range of Star Wars T-shirts designed by ADAM ET ROPÉ.
