Having taken on everything from Yahoo Kusama to the history of black in architecture, the latest fashion mega-work from publishing stalwart Phaidon focuses on Alexandre de Betak. Titled Betak: Fashion Show Revolution, the book covers his entire career — from his start as an ambitious teenager in Paris to his work for the likes of Victoria’s Secret and Dior. de Betak was also responsible for Anthony Vaccarello Fall/Winter 2012, Berluti Fall/Winter 2015, Carven Spring/Summer 2017, Isabel Marant Spring/Summer 2016 and, infamously, Kanye West’s first Paris show from 2011.
de Betak is known for his sense of humor, which has seen his model direction cards gain notriety within the industry. One such card included the directions “You are driving in a convertible with the top down, the wind is in your hair. You’re beautiful and in love.”
