Neil Barrett draws inspiration from his melancholic past for his latest collection. Motivated by the goth-esque artistry of acts such as Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure, Barrett adopted a uniform of “oversize drop-shoulder jackets, kilts, skirts, leggings and big bovver boots” to fuel his youth rebellion. Inspired by that mindset to this day, Neil Barrett has allowed for his fall 2017 output to reflect a tailored approach to his creative and free 80s styles. For the English designer’s latest, he merges the more formal and clean-cut aspects of today’s forward-thinking fashions with the grittier side of post-punk subculture.
