WAFFLESNCREAM Captures Nigeria's Exploding Skate Scene
Continuing to shred despite the lack of skate parks or shops.
The WAFFLESNCREAM lifestyle brand initially grew out of the need to help promote the skate scene in Lagos, Nigeria. With an eclectic team comprised of passionate creatives and athletes, the brand continues to work tirelessly to create a platform for up-and-coming skateboarders in both the country and the continent. “The reality of skating in Africa’s most populated city which currently has no skate parks or skate shops not to mention the major lack of pavements and the ever increasing presence of armed officers, is unlike no other scene in skateboarding today,” said the brand in a statement.
WAFFLESNCREAM recently produced the country’s first homegrown skate edit called “Jide” that features local riders Olaoluwa ‘slawn’, Yinka, Samuel ‘Ziggy’ and John ‘Enigma’ alongside Lusaka, Zambia-bred skaters Saidi Lungu and Evaristo Mutale, who are both competing at the KDS African Skateboarding Championship in October.
