Thanks to the designs of Joseph Hudson, the whistle has been used by law enforcement personnel since the late 1800s. Used to call out for backup from officers in the distance, the design was eventually improved to increase the distance of the whistle’s calls. This breakthrough in design allowed J Hudson & Co to become the largest manufacturer of whistles in the world, supplying whistles to police forces and businesses all over the world. Based on their popular ‘Acme Thunderer’ design, visvim honors the early form of communication with its own brass Law Enforcement Whistle, which can be picked up now at Union for $189 USD.
