This Food Stall in Singapore Has the Cheapest Michelin Star Meal That Money Can Buy
A world-class meal for less than your daily subway fare.
Singapore is home to the first two food stalls in the world awarded with precious and exclusive Michelin Stars. Of the two, Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle offers the cheapest Michelin-starred meal in the world, with the cheapest items on the menu coming in at a humble $1.50 USD approximate. As you can imagine, long lines form outside of the stall before it even opens. The short documentary above explores the story of the stall’s chef and owner, Chan Hon Meng. The Malaysian-born Meng expands and explains how he came to perfect his signature recipe over the course of his 35-year career and what it means to be the first food hawker awarded with a Michelin Star. Watch his inspiring story above.
