Battery Pack Sales Have Doubled Since Pokémon Go Arrived
1.2 million portable battery packs were sold in the past two weeks.

If you’ve been playing Pokémon Go during the last few weeks, chances are that you’ve learned one of the key lessons surrounding the infectious app: take an extra battery with you, no matter where you go. The constant use of GPS and motion sensors has become an essential requirement for your Pokémon hunt. As a logical consequence, external battery packs are experiencing a surge in sales — despite the app’s battery saver mode. According to NPD, 1.2 million portable battery packs were sold in the past two weeks, which signifies a double of the amount from the same period last year. NPD’s Ben Arnold said in a statement, “As a way to compensate for the extra battery usage, consumers are buying portable power packs so they can continue to play, uninterrupted.”
Users are already benefiting from this developments since mobile phone carriers and retailers offering discounts on the accessories.
