Alyx Introduces a Surreal 360-Degree Fashion Video for Its 2016 Fall/Winter Collection
Using Time Square as a backdrop for passersby to gawk and wonder.
More and more creatives are utilizing nontraditional forms of media to convey the concept of their art. For New York fashion label Alyx, designer Matthew Williams wanted to produce a surreal video using 360-degree filming techniques via GoPro cameras to showcase his 2016 fall/winter designs. Times Square was used as a backdrop to highlight the punk-inspired mood of the shoot — the iconic location’s brilliant flashing lights coupled with the avant-garde designs of the clothes really brought the brand’s eye-catching aesthetic. The designer says, “Obviously, I do want everybody to see the clothes, but it is definitely more about the experience and being at that location. I want people to watch the video a few times, each time you see something new or you follow a different girl.”
Additionally, Matthew Williams wanted the video to be immersive — viewers can either click and drag on the computer or move around their phones and tablets to fully see what’s going on in all directions. Give it a try with the vid above and let us know your thoughts.
