Clément Taverniti’s new MATIÉRES project is off to a red-hot start; since branching out on his own after spending time with Dries van Noten and Maison Kitsuné, the French designer’s first solo outing was nominated for a Woolmark prize; the brand’s first collection, meanwhile, boasts an eye for materials and details. Taverniti and his team have sourced rare ancestral fabrics and newly-created innovative fabrics alike for this collection, which fuses street-sensible sartorial staples with a keen sense of tailoring. This fixation on textiles and construction is apparent across pieces like textured, color-blocked shirts that combine polo collars and Riri zippers, technical yet minimalist outerwear, and a color palette that spans from rich navies to sunburnt oranges.
