Tough Times Lead to the Birth of Hip-Hop in New 'The Get Down' Trailer
“This ain’t Disney Land, this is The Bronx.”
During the late ’70s, disco was on its way out of the mainstream eyes and ears and The Bronx began to usher in a genre of music which would embody the experiences that artist were going through. The upcoming Netflix Original Series dubbed The Get Down takes its audience into the tough trials and tribulations that many faced in one of New York’s boroughs as it sparked the birth of hip-hop as well as additional expressive outlets such as art and dance.
The series stars the likes of Jaden Smith, Shameik Moore, Justice Smith and many more as it follows the South Bronx youth on their journey in changing the world.
The Get Down makes its Netflix debut on August 12.
