Jeep Salutes the 75th Anniversary of One of Its Most Important Milestones
A throwback to the original Willy MBs.

Seventy-five years ago, Jeep marked what remains perhaps the biggest milestone in the history of the brand: the Willys-Overland Motor Co. was awarded a contract by the United States government for the original World War II-spec Jeeps. Now, in 2016, Fiat Chrysler is commemorating the OG Willy MBs with a special edition of the Wrangler. Aptly dubbed the 75th Salute, the special edition two-door open-top takes it back to 1941, ditching both B-pillars and doors while employing 16-inch wheels and 32-inch milspec tires along with steel construction for the bumpers and tow hooks. The vehicle even comes decked out in an olive drab paint job with retro badging throughout. And since it’s based on the current Wrangler Sport, the retro look gets a modern engine and transmission in the form of a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and six-speed manual.
Sadly, however, you won’t be braving enemy lines in this bad boy anytime soon: the 75th Salute is just a one-off.
