Under Armour Takes Back Their Top Footwear Designer From Nike
The man behind Steph Curry’s signature shoe is stolen back from his Nike contract.
The race for forward-thinking footwear continues to unfold as a new story regarding Nike and Under Armour pits the two sportswear giants against each other over one of the industry’s top sneaker designers. Earlier this year we reported how UA’s Senior Vice President of Design Dave Dombrow, widely regarded as the brand’s best footwear designer, had left for team Swoosh, only to now move back to the company he first built a name with.
Due to undisclosed reasons, Dombrow will be welcomed back to UA’s Baltimore headquarters this August with a shiny new Chief Design Officer title and will be overseeing the brand’s entire apparel, footwear and accessories collections. In light of recent events, Dombrow will also still be honoring the terms of his contract’s non-compete clause that states he begin working for Nike in 2017.

With previous experience at Nike and PUMA, Dombrow is recognized for his work with UA, having been responsible for many of their best-selling footwear products including the Under Armour SpeedForm Apollo as well as Stephen Curry and Cam Newton’s signature sneakers.
