Nike Unveils FC Barcelona's 2016-17 Home Kit
Barça is ditching sponsorship on the front of its Camp Nou look next season.

When you have a home kit as iconic as Barcelona’s, you can only do but so much to update it each season. For 2016-17, Nike and the Catalonian side are going in an unexpected direction, ditching sponsorship across the chest for a nod to the kits of old. The occasion? The 25th anniversary of the club’s triumph in the 1991–92 European Cup (now known as the UEFA Champions League).
Echoing the look of that campaign’s kit, the 2016-17 look sees a return to Barça’s vertical red and blue stripes (as opposed to last year’s horizontal motif) as thinner tonal stripes appear within the broad ones in honor of 1991-92. Naturally, modern updates abound as the old school aesthetic has been modified with contrasting agility rib fabric at the sleeves and shoulders as the Swoosh’s AeroSwift technology provides the construction throughout. There are even a bevy of odes to the club on both the interior and exterior of the shirt, including a small woven Senyera and nods to the official club anthem, “Cant del Barca.”
FC Barcelona’s brand new home shirt — which will be paired with blue shorts and matching socks — is available now in both authentic and replica form from nike.com.
