maharishi presents part one of the brand’s exploration on “Post-Geographic Devotional Uniform & Habits,” a theme that pertains to the cultural movement that emerged after communication technology connected the world. This season the brand looks to devotees of global religious orders once again for inspiration, drawing influences from Monk’s robes, Judaic prayer strings and even the capes of the Knights Templar. Color palette is on point with theme, with the collection’s use of purple and golden brown hues drawn from Roman Catholic traditions and bright oranges, taken from the robes worn by Thai Buddhist monks. By reworking traditional designs, maharishi presents a new range of “devotional uniform” fit for a pan-global society.

Recycled military surplus have remained a core principle of maharishi’s design DNA since 1994, and the brand continues to incorporate these materials with updated fabric technologies like Italian technical nylon, hemp and organic cotton. Here, model James Magee dons perforated jackets and smocks made from Swedish military snow camo tarpaulins and lined with vintage orange U.S. Army parachute silk. Other standout pieces include the embroidered Tour Kimono Jacket and an M65 Jacket.

Making a comeback is the DPM: British Bonsai, an allover print that combines UK military pattern with maharishi’s signature Bonsai Forest pattern for a unique design. Camouflage continues to be maharishi’s favorite expression of nature and art, and all camo pieces from this season are fully reversible. New this season is the “No Rel. Pref.” slogan, which stands as a short-hand for “No Religious Preference.” The slogan acts to raise awareness of religion in warfare and the contradiction that this creates, as a reference to principles such as the Bible’s “Thou Shalt Not Kill.”
