For HYPEBEAST Magazine Issue 13: The Innovation Issue, we featured Borre Akkersdijk, a textile designer who has made it his life’s work to interconnect fashion and technology. While his namesake label byBorre may not be a household name, Borre is well known within the industry for his progressive work with fabric and textiles. The Dutch designer, who first made waves with his BB.Suit – a 3D-knitted Wi-Fi enabled onesie – has continued shock the system, developing new innovative textiles and integrating technology into his designs.
To find out more, we followed Borre to Istanbul, Turkey to learn about textiles and production. During our time, we discover his unique perspective on utilizing various yarns for different functions as well as his vision for the future of clothing and wearable technology.
