The first official trailer for the forthcoming Tom Hanks film The Circle has emerged. Also featuring Emma Watson, the James Ponsoldt-directed project is a silver screen adaptation of the 2013 Dave Eggers book of the same name. The film revolves around the theme of privacy in the modern digital age and the perils of a life lived with total transparency. Tom Hanks assumes a Mark Zuckerberg-esque role for his character, while Emma Watson stars as an enthusiastic employee of his. Per the official The Circle synopsis:

“Hanks plays the founder of the world’s largest tech and social media company. He encourages Watson’s character, who’s rising through the company ranks, to live her life with complete transparency — but no one is really safe when everyone is watching. The novel turns into a contemporary thriller about the perils of life in a digital age where personal data is collected, sifted and monetized and used for surveillance, rendering privacy obsolete.”

You can view the debut trailer for The Circle above. The film will arrive in U.S. theaters on April 28, 2017.
