Rejoice: Classic 'Counter-Strike' 1.6 Will Be Coming Back to PCs
Will there be bunny hopping though?
Fans of the PC cult classic Counter-Strike — CS for short — need no introduction to the title. The game is the most popular and longest-lasting competitive first-person shooters ever released and now, thanks to CS modder “ZooL,” its return has been teased as an upcoming mod for CS:GO called Counter-Strike: Classic Offensive.
Most if not all will agree that 1.6 was the best version of the game: classic maps like de_dust, fy_iceworld, or the awp_map alongside simple mechanics, hacks/skills like bunny hopping, quick-scoping and headshots through walls made the game truly memorable. Originally launched in 1999, the multiplayer title has since evolved and the franchise includes Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, Counter-Strike: Source and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Currently in closed beta, the mod is expected to release on December 25. Let us know what you think of the teaser above and if you’ll be searching for your Steam login in anticipation.
