[gallery columns="3"]Hailing from Atlanta by way of Tokyo, the eclectic sounds of both regions have helped LaDonnis devise his own style which ranges from a dreamy soundscape to cool California Alternative Hip Hop. Today, he sticks to the script and releases a new breezy, visual single called “Brown Skin.” With regards to video, here’s what he had to say:

“The inspiration for Brown Skin came this summer while I was in Topanga Canyon trying to clear my head. I currently reside in Downtown L.A and it gets hectic here so I like to drive up with my friend Cam and just smoke and vibe out. This summer was full of a lot of not fun moments for people of color so when I saw the opportunity to make something uplifting in a sad time I took it . I wanted to make something Great out of something bad. I wanted to make a song that would make my sister my mom and all the women of color I love so much smile and feel good about themselves. They set the trends they carry our burdens and they too often overlooked. I can’t fully love myself if they aren’t loving themselves. “

You’ll find this single on LaDonnis’ forthcoming album, A Sunny Place for Shady People, set to arrive at the top of 2017. The LP will also features production from Two Fresh Beats, Mr.Carmack, Alex Goose, and Stefan Ponce. Watch above.
