New Era and New Balance Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the MT580 Sneaker
Two USA-based heritage brands join forces for a glow-in-the-dark capsule.

Heritage label New Era has partnered with longstanding Boston-based footwear brand New Balance to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the previously Japan-exclusive, now cult classic MT580 trail runner silhouette. In doing so, the hat makers have paired their 9FIFTY snapback with a specially-designed pair of the MT580 sneakers, both of which draw inspiration from solarized photography and its signature black meets neon effect.
The New Era 9FIFTY cap in black wool features a black leather rear strap and a matt-black “NB” logo clip, with glow-in-the-dark embroidery and reflective black contour lines on its visor.
Meanwhile, the MRT580NE sports an all-black nubuck upper with a classically-minimal silhouette by day, but transforming at night with a glow-in-the-dark outsole and neon-green tongue. Additional details include a reflective heel counter with a contour line-inspired pattern, a full-ground contact sole, the ROLLBAR®, ENCAP and C-CAP technologies, and a New Era lace lock to signify the collaboration.
The New Era x New Balance MT580 capsule collection will begin retailing at select stockists on January 8 for $200 USD.
