Issey Miyake is known for many things — among them the PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE line and the BAO BAO accessories line. And while it’s easy to blindly rely on these avenues for income, Issey Miyake’s menswear designer Yusuke Takahashi makes it a point to pay homage to these pillars without replicating pleats at all.
For the fall/winter collection, Takahashi takes a look at disparate cultures all around the world. Calling the collection “Neonomad,” pieces include Mongolian knits, dresses for men, Western influences, wrap trousers and headgear. Takahashi takes these cultural staples a step further by elevating the pieces with technical fabrics — their spec sheets read: wrinkle-free, form-stabilizing, functional, lightweight, washable, non-iron. Take a look at these functional but beautiful pieces above and let us know what you think in the comments below.
