#hypebae: Michele Maturo

LA-based model Michele Maturo is known for her athletic style and laid-back West Coast personality, but that’s just scratching the surface. She recently teamed up with fashion imprint Civil Regime on a collection of sleek workout apparel and also launched Perception Vol. 1, the premier issue of her interactive photography magazine. Michele is also an active volunteer with Los Angeles Mission, a program that aims to combat homelessness in LA’s downtown Skid Row. We recently caught up with Michele for our latest #HYPEBAE installment to chat about guilty pleasures and superpowers. Check out our conversation below.

What are your top three deal breakers for guys?

There’s nothing worse than an arrogant guy with a bad attitude! Someone who doesn’t treat their mom well is a huge deal breaker – how a man treats his mom says a lot about how he will treat his (future) wife. Also, a person with a closed mind turns me off.

Name your favorite animal and why.

I’m a sucker for cute, fluffy animals! The fennec fox is the most adorable little creature with big pointy ears. It’s illegal to own one so my dog Peanut looks just like a fennec…which was super intentional.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Well this is just embarrassing, but I may or may not have seen the whole Twilight series…once. Maybe twice.

Do you collect anything?

Yep! Since I was a little girl, I’ve been collecting crystals and stones from around the world. I’m all about channeling and cleansing energy, as well as spiritual healing. I’m a hippie at heart.

What super power would you choose if you could?

The possibilities are endless. Being invisible would be super cool, but I wouldn’t want to hear people talking trash, thinking I’m not around. So maybe I’d have a crazy mind power.
