Astrid Andersen 2016 Fall/Winter Collection Is Menswear, Redefined
The Danish designer makes fabrics the key theme in her latest collection shown at LC:M.
Astrid Andersen teams up with Redbull Catwalk Studio once again to showcase her latest collection at LCM, with beats provided by French DJ/producer Brodinski. For the 2016 fall/winter season, the Danish designer chose to focus on juxtaposing different fabrics and textures as the key theme. Ranging from materials including quilted nylons and technical fine-gauge polyamide to traditional wool and denim, Andersen sought to strike a balance between modern and conventional motifs. Partnering with 100-year-old UK mill Linton Tweeds alongside Sophie Hallette lace, the designer’s desire to blend classic menswear textiles with more feminine details was also made visible.
While each piece was created to stand out on its own, the outerwear — including a metallic puffer coat and quilted jackets emblazoned with her signature logo — was especially eye-catching. Enmeshed in a color palette of sea foam, red, olive and black, her signature athletic designs of oversized sweatshirts and track pants rounded out the collection, in conjunction with ski suit-inspired overalls, fur-adorned coats and luxe bombers. Andersen will be presenting her bespoke collection during this year’s upcoming Paris Fashion Week.
