Zalando Calls off Bread & Butter to Aid the European Refugee Crisis
A commendable act.

Germany-based e-commerce company Zalando announced back in June it had become Bread & Butter’s new stakeholder, thereby rescuing the trade show from insolvency. However it seems that the upcoming event in January 2016 will not be taking place, as Berlin is planning to use the now-defunct Tempelhof Airport as a site to house refugees in an ongoing effort to aid the European refugee crisis that has seen a massive influx of people escaping the conflicts in both Syria and Iraq. According to a spokesperson for Zalando, the Berlin senate recently contacted the company regarding the possibility of using Bread & Butter’s event site, and the e-commerce startup agreed to cancel the forthcoming show. There have been suggestions of another event taking place, but so far no concrete details have been released. Stay tuned for more information.
