Trend Highlights: 2015 Spring/Summer Fashion Week Streetstyles
A retrospective look back at trends as seen in 2015 LC:M, Pitti Uomo, PFW and NYFW streetsnaps.
Fashion Week is a time which draws in crowds of various sectors of fashion — think journalists, models, photographers and stylists — all of who are peaked by the interest of the forthcoming season’s designs. While the runway does its share in showcasing progressive threads, participants deliver as much a spectacle as do the models found under the neon strip lights. In this section, we highlight key styles and emerging trends seen in London, Milan, Paris and New York this season. Pulled from our recent coverage across the fashion capitals, we bring you a selection of looks from the sidewalks. Which city’s streetstyles are your favorite?
London Collections: Men - Athletic Influences
Casual streetwear silhouettes were present during this year’s London Collections: Men events. Elongated coats, fitted jackets, wide-legged trousers, culotte pants and long shorts played with proportions, while labels such as Gosha Rubchinskiy, Astrid Andersen and Nasir Mazhar were mixed with edgy silhouettes like motorcycle jackets, bombers, denim and trendy sneakers like Rick Owens x adidas Springblade Lows.
Pitti Uomo 88 - Pastel Colors
Milan’s famous trade show attracted a sartorially-inclined crowd that embraced polished looks of finely tailored suits. This year, fashion enthusiasts like Nick Wooster and Motofumi “Poggy” Kogi arrived to the Italian metropolis dressed in refined casual wear and formalwear with garments like crisp suits, blazers, button-up collared shirts, linen shirts, slacks, and tailored pants that exhibited plenty of warm hued-color blocking and a style of sophisticated taste. Still, outfits that resembled traditional formalwear were pulled off in an effortlessly laid back way with loose tops and linen blazers.
Paris Fashion Week – Statement Coats
As always, Paris Fashion Week drew in some of the highest of the fashion industry community, which included the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Marcelo Burlon and Liu Wen, and this year was all about expressive coats and couture pieces. Fitted coats adorned bright colors, patterned embroidery, and other statement designs, and included an array of overcoats, trench coats, bomber jackets and pea coats made of wool, pleather, and other fine fabrics.
New York Fashion Week: Men’s – Light Blazers
This year saw the first-ever New York Fashion Week event dedicated to menswear collections. Influencers like Poggy, Nick Wooster, Luka Sabbat and Nate Carty crowded the NY streets in mixed garb of high-end and streetwear pieces, in outfits comprised of casual basics like light blazers, tanks, and shorts, mixed with rugged silhouettes like leather jackets, camper vests, bomber jackets, jerseys, denim and sneakers. Occasional pops of vibrant patterns and bright colors came through in pieces like graphic print blazers, paisley jumpsuits and pastel adidas by Raf Simons sneakers.
