Immediately following its Cannes Film Festival debut the filmmakers of the controversial documentary, Amy, based on the life of Amy Winehouse, drop their first full-length trailer. The heartbreaking two minutes are filled with intimate moments with the late star.
“The more people see of me, the more they’ll realize that all I’m good for is making music.”
Winehouse’s family is vehemently against the film due to the “disgraceful” depiction of her father. Her partner at the time of her passing, Reg Traviss, even goes as far as to tell the London publication, The Telegraph, that the film is “a fictionalised biopic centered around a distorted depiction of Amy’s life.”
Amy will be in New York, Los Angeles and UK theaters starting July 3 before releasing nationwide July 10.
