adidas and ESPN Examine Mark Gonzales' Impact on Skateboarding

An artist both on paper and on the board, Mark Gonzales’s impact on the world of skateboarding cannot be underestimated. His smooth style and unique approach to the sport paved the way for the generation of street skaters during a time when Vert was more popular, and the culmination of all his achievements were formally recognized when he was named as the “Most Influential Skateboarder of all Time” in 2001. In a new documentary titled Pioneers: The Mark Gonzales Ride, adidas and ESPN examined “The Gonz”‘s early beginnings and the eventual impact he would have in the sport with the help of Spike Jonze, Ed Templeton Nestor Judkins and Natas Kaupas, all of whom have been riding with Gonzales since back in the day.
