The First Teaser for Next Year's 'Godzilla Resurgence' Will Strike Fear Into You
The iconic kaiju makes a return to its homeland.
Having devastated the Californian coast in 2014 installment Godzilla, the iconic kaiju is set to return to Japan next year in the franchise’s 31st film, titled Godzilla Resurgence. Co-directed by Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi, the film’s first teaser has been released and provides a look at the chaos that ensues as Godzilla presumably makes his appearance in Tokyo. Cobbled together from handheld found footage, this Godzilla Resurgence teaser looks so far to resemble 2008 monster horror film Cloverfield, which became known for its nausea-inducing cinematography. Set to release on July 29, 2016, this incarnation of Godzilla will be the largest to date, clocking in at 118.5 meters high, a full 10 meters taller than in the 2014 American film.
