TOHO and GKIDS have officially unveiled the new theatrical IMAX trailer and key visual for Godzilla Minus Zero. Directed once again by Takashi Yamazaki, the film serves as a landmark production, making history as the first Japanese film ever to be shot natively using IMAX-certified digital cameras.
Set two years after the desperate defense of Japan in 1947, the story follows returning characters Kōichi Shikishima (Ryunosuke Kamiki) and Noriko Ōishi (Minami Hamabe) as the nation faces an unexpected resurgence of the radioactive titan, which appears to have regenerated and evolved into an even more monstrous, mutated form.
The 85-second trailer offers a high-stakes, epic preview of the film’s expanded scale, showcasing high-contrast naval battles, military fighter plane interceptions, and massive urban destruction framed specifically in the immersive 1.43:1 expanded IMAX aspect ratio. Alongside returning cast members, the preview introduces new key characters, including a prodigy forecasting officer (played by Keiko Kitagawa) who proposes a desperate “Plan B” defense strategy as Godzilla unleashes catastrophic atomic bursts.
