Saba - TimeZone/Whip (areyoudown?)
Inspired by Lupe Fiasco
Directly following his massive Chance the Rapper collab, Saba channels his inner Lupe Fiasco for his latest. Taking inspiration from the aforementioned Chicago icon’s classic album Food & Liquor, Saba serves up a new video for his 2014 efort “TimeZone/Whip (areyoudown?).” Saba took many of his inspirational cues for today’s drop from the Food & Liquor cover-art. Explaining the LP’s significance to Noisey, Saba had the following to say:
“That was one of the first rap albums that I was super connected to and super in love with the sound of it. So that was like a no-brainer to be like ‘let’s try to visualize this and make it a motion picture kind of deal where we take a picture and add some life to it,’”
