We’re nearly a month into 2015, and already we have been blessed with two new Kanye West and Paul McCartney collaborations — something never to have been done before. Both “Only One” and “FourFiveSeconds” step away from his Yeezus style and feature the 72-year-old Beatle playing instrumentals. The former, a dedication to his toddler daughter North and said to have been channeled through the spirit of his late mother Donda, has qualities slightly reminiscent of Ye’s 808s & Heartbreak with the utilization of heavily auto-tuned vocals and the gentle playing of a Rhodes piano. The latter, a Rihanna track, seems to take inspiration from country music with its distinguished melodies and acoustic guitar strumming. Both tracks certainly have their good qualities; which version do you prefer? Let us know if you are a fan of this new direction Kanye is taking below.
