It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Shanghai-based designer Kim Kiroic, but the founder of Kinkle Workshop has been busy. The designer kicks off 2015 with the launch of KKtP – a sportswear-inflected footwear imprint that fits well amongst offerings from Raf Simons’ adidas collection and similar offerings. KKtP puts a more luxurious spin on these elevated silhouettes, imbuing each ‘runner’ with thick patent leather and neoprene – again, reiterating runway aesthetics – generously cushioned Vibram® midsoles, and even strap-secure systems. Continuing with its “sport luxury” motif, KKtP cleverly draws from familiar basketball sneakers as well, making use of a zippered lace area and a daily essential color scheme on one key silhouette.
