Although much of Gregorian-Western culture has already begun its new year, the Chinese New Year celebrations are just over a month away. Celebrating this milestone, Converse turned to the Chuck Taylor All Star to create a special collection of homage to the Year of the Goat. The Goat is popularly interpreted as a symbol for peace, honesty, and calm in the Chinese Zodiac. Incorporating these into the design, the “Year of the Goat” collection consists of two colorways. The first harmonizes black sheep leather with gold accenting at the toecap and heel strap and is lined with a sherpa-like material for extra warmth. The second sneaker is a celebration of the Lunar New Year itself, drawing on ancient Chinese tapestry patterns for the bold upper. Both of these options will become available beginning January 15 online and in-store.
