éS Footwear‘s hiatus back in 2012 was widely regarded as one of skateboarding’s great tragedies. At its peak, the creative footwear brand helmed the historic careers of skateboarding’s finest – Eric Koston, Chad Muska and Tom Penny amongst them. The skateboarding community’s outcry seemed to fall on deaf ears as éS’s last season faded from the shop shelves into eBay obscurity, then altogether vanished. The cry, it seems, was heard all the way in Pierre André Sénizergues’ offices at Sole Technology, who recently brought back the brand in limited runs as a reaction to market saturation – and his fans’ encouragement. The Sole Tech founder recently spoke with Breaks Magazine to explain the reasons for éS’s departure and return, “fighting” corporate entities, and the brand’s strategy moving forward.
