Futura Talks his “Kinetic Action” Solo Exhibition with Converse in Shanghai

Seminal graffiti artist Futura has had a busy year as of late. Having completed his “TIMEWARP” exhibition in Moscow, he followed on soon after with his “Kinetic Action” exhibition at the Magda Danysz Gallery in Shanghai. Sponsored by Converse, the exhibition saw Futura paint new works in real-time on opening day, at one point painting his penchant symbols alongside a traditional Chinese calligrapher on a long scroll on the ground. Here, the artist speaks about the contrast between the bustling life in the Chinese city and the sterile environment within the gallery, as well speaking to approaching gallery works in the same way as he worked as an “outlaw artist on the street” — with limited tools and an open mind at his disposal.
