Essentials: Ryan Cross of Reebok Classics
Over 20 years in the streetwear game has left Ryan Cross with more than a handful of memories.
Over 20 years in the streetwear game has left Ryan Cross with more than a handful of memories. These experiences range from growing up with Ryan and Brendon Babenzien (CEO of BOAST USA and Creative Director of Supreme, respectively) in Long Island and an internship with then start-up Ecko Unltd. to his current role as director of The Reebok Classic Reserve Collection and Certified Network. Cross’s humble demeanor and unshakable belief in his contemporaries has guided him through an interesting life. It seems fitting that Cross would be the head of the Reserve Collection, with the Reebok Classic Leather now celebrating its 30th anniversary, as well as the Certified Network, a premier network of retail partnerships that creatively collaborate with Reebok; Cross has an aura of ‘legacy’ about him. His edition of Essentials isn’t about a flashy pair of jeans, a shirt dear to his heart, or anything particularly extraneous. It’s about the food, drink and two feet that got him to where he is today, and representing a heritage. To call him an O.G. twice over would be an understatement.
