M83 – Ali & Matthias

Anthony Gonzalez of M83 wades deeper into the world of cinematic soundtrack with this latest collaboration. After his recent stint for the sci-fi film Oblivion, Gonzalez partners with White Sea’s Morgan Kibby to produce a track for his brother Yann’s first feature-length film You and the Night. Drawing inspiration from classic ’70s French soundtracks, this instrumental piece adds an intimacy to the French film which is reportedly about a young couple and their transvestite maid preparing for an orgy (see IMDB). In signature M83 style, this track brings together muted riffs, soft synths and tranquil sounds to produce a harmonic dreamscape.
