Pacific Rim Official CES Trailer

Here’s a new look at Guillermo del Toro‘s upcoming sci-fi flick, Pacific Rim. Anyone who has grown up with Power Rangers, Transformers and giant monster movies will feel right at home with this one, which looks to be as Del Toro has put it: “A beautiful poem to giant monsters.”

Set for a July 12, 2013 release, the film depicts mankind’s battle against “Kaiju” (Japanese for giant monster) that have risen from a crevice in the Pacific Ocean. This results in a war that expends most of humanity’s resources, leaving all hope resting on the shoulders of a former pilot (Charlie Hunnam), an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi), and an obsolete mecha – one of the last few remaining in our arsenal. Industrial Light and Magic is credited with the numerous special effects in the film including the giant mecha known as Jaegers. Enjoy!
