Amy Winehouse’s North London home was robbed days after she died with personal items. According to The Sun, one of the late singer’s former acquaintances has taken copies of unreleased tracks, lyric books and letters from her home, including one of her favorite guitars and lyrics scribbled for her third album. Despite the long list of stolen items, it is reported that only two lyric books belonging to the late 27-year-old have been reported missing to the police. Around 20 people have had access to Winehouse’s former home since her passing, including her family, friends, security and the cops.
A source close to the Winehouse family said of the theft:
“This is such a sickening shock to the family. That someone would stoop so low. They can’t get their heads around it. Mitch is livid. The family, record label and management are months away from deciding what to do with any unreleased music. For that to be taken out of their hands is horrible.
[Her father] Mitch is willing to give whoever has stolen the items a chance to do the right thing and put them back so it doesn’t have to get messy.”
An investigation into the singer’s death is currently ongoing.
