The 'KENZO World' Film Directed by Spike Jonze Stars Margaret Qualley Dancing Like a Possessed Soul
Created for the launch of the French label’s new fragrance.
This isn’t the first time Spike Jonze had a star spontaneously dance in one of his videos. Some of you may recall iconic actor, Christopher Walken exhibiting his moves in another Jonze music vid for Fatboy Slim’s track “Weapon Of Choice.” Now KENZO creative directors, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon taps the respected visionary for a short film to celebrate the launch of the house’s newest fragrance.
The clip stars actress and former dancer, Margaret Qualley who suddenly gets possessed by some unnamed force and starts dancing erratically to the tune of “Mutant Brain” by Sam Spiegel & Ape Drums featuring Assassin. The high-powered vid is a metaphor for the woman the fragrance is for. Carol Lim and Humberto Leon explains, “The KENZO girl inhabits the present, like right now. She’s not nostalgic at all. She likes movement and speed and the way things shift and slide and collide in real time. She’s never blasé, always enthusiastic. She stands out from the crowd.”
