Google has just announced a strategic partnership with Luxottica — parent company of brands like Ray-Ban, Oakley and Persol — to “design, develop and distribute” Google Glass eyewear. With over 5,000 points of retail in the U.S. and a considerable range of brands in its portfolio, Luxottica is perfectly placed to help Google Glass reach the mainstream, and with Luxottica’s expertise in manufacturing and design, the partnership will certainly mean an extended range of Glass options for potential buyers.
