Netflix Is Developing an Animated Show Based on ‘Twilight’
Adapting Stephanie Meyer’s ‘Midnight Sun,’ a novel written from Edward Cullen’s POV.
The vampires of Twilight are set to return in a new animated series from Netflix. Twelve years after the fifth and final film in the hit franchise graced theaters, the streamer announced it was developing a show based on Stephanie Meyer’s Midnight Sun, a companion novel to the mainline series.
Published in 2020, Midnight Sun is a retelling of the first novel, Twilight, but from the perspective of Edward Cullen rather than the typical narrating character Bella Swan.
Like in the case of the film adaptation of her books, Meyer will serve as an executive producer on Netflix’s Midnight Sun show, alongside the partner of her production studio Fickle Fish Films Meghan Hibbett.
Also executive producing are Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen, Erik Feig and Samie Kim Falvey. Sinead Daly will both executive produce and write the series.
An official release date for the show has yet to be announced.
