Maharishi Presents Full "Maha Basquiat" Collection
Paying homage to the artist after introducing a Basquiat-inspired capsule in its Pre-SS24 collection.

After Maharishi started to toy with the works of Jean-Michel Basquiat in its Pre-Spring/Summer 2024 Lunar New Year delivery, tacking on a Basquiat-inspired capsule to the full release, Hardy Blechman‘s label is going all-in on the artist’s archive in its latest release. The outfitter has now unveiled a full-fledged “Maha Basquiat” collection, which implements some of the artist’s signature signage across a range of utilitarian garments.

Maharishi pulls inspiration from Basquiat’s Pez Dispenser and Nu-Nile designs, infusing the two instantly recognizable images into the label’s new lineup of brand staples and outerwear silhouettes, crafted from a mixture of sustainable hemp, organic cotton and durable technical fabrics.
Embroidered detailing is also lifted from the artist’s archive of designs – his original DPM, Bonsai Forest Chalk – and melds the artist’s ethos with Maharishi’s love of camouflage, further elevating the emblematic garments.
The label looked to stay true to Basquiat’s hometown for the release, enlisting the likes of local New York City hip-hop-meets-jazz musician-producer Cisco Swank to flex the foray.
Explore the lookbook in the gallery above and shop the full Maha Basquiat capsule now at Maharishi’s online store as well as at its London and New York flagship locations.
