Rocky’s Matcha Taps Echo Park Pottery’s Peter Shire for a Playful Collaboration
Featuring limited edition tea bowls.
Rocky’s Matcha has partnered with Echo Park Pottery’s Peter Shire for a collaboration that celebrates the art of drinking matcha while nodding to the vibrancy of LA and its art scene.
For this collaboration, Peter Shire focused on chawans, a type of tea bowl that is specifically used at tea ceremonies in East Asia. Exuding a playful vibe that Shire is known for, these vibrantly hand-crafted bowls are doused in colorful splatters of paint. The design also draws inspiration from Sam Francis’ abstract expressionist paintings, while the ceramic techniques used pay subtle homage to Adrian Saxe’s works.
Limited to 100 pieces and available in two sizes, the Echo Park Pottery for Rocky’s Matcha chawans is priced from $250 – $300 USD. Starting June 27, they will be shoppable through Rocky’s Match’s webstore. The chawans will also be available in limited numbers at a physical pop-up at Tom Sachs Bodega from June 29 – 30.
