LVMH, Chanel and Hermès Have Joined the Watches and Wonders Geneva Foundation Board
With Cartier’s president and CEO Cyrille Vigneron to take on the role as the new board chairman.
The Watches and Wonders Geneva Foundation (WWGF) has announced that it has welcomed three new members to its board, namely Chanel and Hermès alongside LVMH.
The watch fair officially replaced Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) in 2020 and has been led and organized by Rolex, Richemont and Patek Philippe since the establishment of its Geneva Foundation in 2022. While the aforementioned Maisons and brands that were represented by LVMH have participated in the past Watches and Wonders events before, this new change will likely impact the scale and influence of the upcoming editions.
For two years, Rolex’s CEO Jean-Frédéric Dufour has served as the chairman of the board. Starting July 1, 2024, the role will be passed onto Cyrille Vigneron, the president and CEO of Cartier, while Dufour will assume the role of treasurer for the board.
Under Vigneron’s new direction, WWGF wrote in an official statement that they will “focus on defining the strategic and development axes” of their flagship event. In the 2024 Geneva edition alone, the watch fair has gathered 54 of the biggest names and players in watchmaking worldwide, while also attracting 49,000 visitors to the event.
The dates for 2025’s Geneva edition of Watches and Wonders have also been confirmed, which is set to take place from April 1- 7.
