One week out from its 15th-anniversary runway in Capri, Jacquemus has landed on the Italian island to begin claiming a high-fashion stake.

On Monday, the Simon Porte Jacquemus-led label pulled back the curtain on an all-new retail outpost nestled under a stone wall alongside the Bay of Naples. Cutting the ribbon, the campy label shared a video on social media featuring members of its design team carrying massive iterations of its atelier’s tools — from big yellow buttons and giant paper clips to snaking measuring tapes and extra-large rolls of thread — in front of the store.

“SURPRISE, WE OPENED A BOUTIQUE,” the brand exclaimed in the caption.

Alongside the store’s announcement, Jacquemus shared a carousel of classic, internet-friendly clips to amp up excitement surrounding the forthcoming runway. Among them, clothing racks float on the Tyrrhenian Sea; designers iron garments on surf boards; bikers wear stacks of Les Classiques bucket hats, and gondola-riders carry mountains of Jacquemus-labeled boxes and bags above the island’s serene landscapes. That’s Jacquemus’ surrealist marketing blueprint for you.

Jacquemus’ 15th-anniversary show is scheduled to take place on June 10 at the infamous Italian villa Casa Malaparte, which was first featured in Jean-Luc Godard’s 1963 film Contempt. “I decided to create my brand after watching Le Mépris (Contempt) from Jean-Luc Godard, being inspired by the beauty and modernity of his vision,” Jacquemus wrote in an Instagram caption upon announcing the runway in February. “Today I feel honored to be able to present our next show in Casa Malaparte.”

Stay tuned to Hypebeast for more on the upcoming runway, and take a look at Jacquemus’ Capri store above.
