Stone Island's 'The Compass Inside' Film Is Rooted In Process and Craftsmanship
Featuring an original composition by Billy McFeely, with narration by UK rap star, Dave.
Stone Island has just presented The Compass Inside, a new short film that embodies Stone Island’s manifesto of the same name.
Directed by Jeremy Elkin, the film features a collection of members from the Stone Island community including award-winning director Spike Lee and model-turned-actress, Jodie Turner-Smith. The movie is put together to track members of the Stone Island community in moments of creativity and reflection, with Spike Lee, for example, considering the idea of community within Brooklyn, New York.
Meanwhile, Jodie Turner-Smith is captured discussing the impact of Jamaica on British life as she walks around Brixton, London. As a whole, the film explores the relationship between life and lab, with footage from the Stone Island factories, and the unique connection between how the product is made, and how it is worn.
Commenting on the release of the new film, Jeremy Elkin said: “The Compass Inside is a film rooted in process, craftsmanship, artistry and community. It’s about the people who wear Stone Island as they go about their day-to-day lives and the artisans who make the garments, bringing the Stone Island manifesto to life.”
Additionally, the short film features an original composition by Billy McFeely, with narration by UK rap star, Dave. The full-length director’s cut then features a score by an ensemble led by Michael Muller with narration in various languages by Dave, Winiche, and Carlo Rivetti.
