Closer Look: Stone Island's "Specially Made," Stage-Suited Wardrobe for Dave's 'The Boy Who Played The Harp' Tour
After years of creative collaboration, the Italian techwear imprint lifted inspiration from the UK rapper’s personal Stone Island archive to outfit an entirely custom, modular wardrobe for his tour, accompanied by a limited for-purchase release.
Dave and Stone Island go way back. The UK rapper has been tapped in with the Italian imprint for a minute now, an intentional supporter of storied silhouettes, an avid collector of the brand’s rare pieces, and a seasoned player in leading the charge on some of the brand’s campaigns and collaborations.
As of late, Dave has fronted the tech-wear titan’s “Stone Island Community as a form of Research” campaign, assisted in the design process of two limited-release football kits for the Santan Cup in both 2024 and 2025, fronted the New Balance Furon campaign launch alongside Saka, and, most recently, last October, he dropped his released his third studio endeavor The Boy Who Played the Harp in tandem with a Stone Island Sound vinyl.
Needless to say, it was about time the duo got in the lab to level up their creative synergy … and what better time then as Dave embarks upon his The Boy Who Played The Harp world tour.
For the first time in history, Stone Island has teamed up with a musician on a custom on-stage look, partnering with Dave on a modular, “stage performance-driven” wardrobe based on his extensive, personal Stone Island archive.
Dave played a close role in the creative process, working hand-in-hand with the Stone Island design team to present a cohesive capsule that not only suits his on-stage routine, but also his affinity for intentional outerwear and tech garments.
As attendees caught sight of rather quickly, each piece Dave has donned on stage thus far has come stamped with a red-hued “Specially Made For Dave, The Boy Who Played The Harp” hangtag.
Culminating in a creative envisioning that feels authentic to both Dave and Stone, the range of apparel features a lineup of iridescent and patterned pieces. A double-layer metal mesh jumpsuit comes equipped with a high-tech zipper system, whereas a nylon hooded tracksuit comes dipped in a new iteration of Stone Island’s grid camouflage print, and color-matched reflective tape.
Hoodies extend the reflective-camo design ethos, landing in the same colorways and complete with detachable mesh vests as well as convertible canvas pants. The reflective plated camouflage pattern was no effortless feat, accomplished by way of a highly innovative print transfer technique over a glass microsphere coating, in which the fabric, the print, and the reflective film breed a one-of-one composition of color and shading.
The drop doesn’t stop there. Key to both the musician and Stone Island, is the role of community. So, the duo had to drop off a dialed-in selection of garments for purchase to the public.
Directly inspired by Dave’s custom tour wardrobe, the limited public release imbues the same highly reflective coating motif throughout. Achieved by way of a resin bath in corporating thousands of glass microspheres, each reflective surface comes printed with a textured camo pattern via “direct to film” technique.”
Dave’s reflective hoodie comes reimagined for purchase, along with the matching grey trousers, mesh multi-pocket vest, and camo T-shirt. Each piece is officially bolstered with the same “Specially Made For Dave, The Boy Who Played The Harp” branded hangtag, paired with Stone Island’s white Compass badge.
Continuing the community arc at the core of both partners artistry, Dave has teamed up with Stone Island archivist Archie Maher to showcase the collection, now on display as part of a larger exhibition at Dover Street Market that spotlight’s the musician’s expansive archive of Stone Island pieces.
Dubbed Stone Island Selected Works: Archival Pieces From The Collection Of Dave ‘016 – ‘026, the new custom modular wardrobe rests in a plexiglass structure alongside a myriad of Dave’s additional archival range that he’s been growing for the last 10 years.
A press release confirms that the exhibition will shift to New York City – situated at the brand’s Stone Island SoHo flagship – come April 29, 2026. Stay tuned as more information materializes.
In the interim, shop the new Dave-inspired Stone Island drop while it’s still available at the official Stone Island website, and select brick-and-mortar storefronts in Paris, London, Munich, Toronto, Los Angeles, and New York.
