When it comes to trends, we’ve seen it all in 2023. Such is the hyperspeed that trends come and go in the TikTok era, fashion has shifted at an unprecedented rate throughout 2023 – promoting the rise of quiet luxury, gimmicky footwear, and oversized summer staples.

2024 promises to be no different, with a slew of exciting trends that continue to expand on decade-old classics – as Gen-Z audiences look to reignite styles their parents wore in decades past. Retail Intelligence Platform EDITED has traveled into the future to predict the biggest streetwear trends of the year ahead, investigating top-tier styles that will conquer international streets next year.

Sportswear maned European avenues in 2023 and guided the collision of fashion and football through genderless apparel that champions your favorite team. While EDITED predicted the rise of football jerseys at the start of the decade, the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship will take athletic tops to new heights. You can expect further collaborations in this field, with Martine Rose and Wales Bonner leading the way with football-focused footwear that reignites classic models. Sports tops will stay in the know next year, honoring “Blokecore” subcultures through team-specific uniforms championing fresh talent and legacy-driven icons.

The adidas Samba sat on top of the world this year, dominating mainstream footwear markets and growing steadily into 2024. According to EDITED, adidas Samba increased availability in Q2 while struggling to stay on shelves in succeeding months. Alternative models are rising to take the crown, with the adidas Spezial and Gazelle aiming to replace the low-cut hero next year.

New Wave Sport will be a significant player in 2024, escorted by alternative athletic references that leave football fields behind. Generational brands are looking to cycling, racing, and motocross for stimulation. During the Las Vegas Grand Prix, “Bikercore” entered a new era, where A$AP Rocky revealed his inaugural collection as PUMA and Formula 1’s new Creative Director.

Balenciaga took an alternative approach, traveling to snow-covered slopes in its luxuriously padded Winter collection. 13% of Balenciaga styles were instant sell-outs, while additional brands, including Moncler and Helly Hansen, have also embraced chilly weather conditions. Elsewhere, HIDDEN.NY recently taped Salomon for a slope-ready collaboration that kickstarted winter sports with insulating uniforms.

The 2024 Paris Olympics will cement sporty trends in the French capital with key moments destined for history books. Sporty trends dominated 2023, but it wasn’t just football shirts. For example, rugby shirts have increased in popularity by 33% year-on-year, while hockey jerseys redesigned by Stüssy and Palace Skateboards have gone viral with a 60% market explosion.

Jorts become the UK’s go-to uniform this summer, bouncing on nostalgic ‘90s trends derived from rugged skater fashion. The mid-length denim bottom went viral on digital platforms in 2023, seeing the “Jorts” hashtag rack up over 565 Million TikTok views following its appearance on luxury runways at Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks.

Brands from Kenzo to Dior have shown their distinct perspectives, adorning jorts in glistening jewels and lace coverings. British youth will continue to lead the Jorts movement in 2024, with reigning streetwear brands releasing independent light-washed versions expected to reinflate under warm temperatures. We saw Palace and A1 Denim pair their colossal creations with chunky footwear, granddad-inspired sandals, and fuzzy UGG boots during Fall and Winter, redefining jorts’ seasonless stance.

Leather bombers will replace edgy motorcycle jackets in the new year, growing in popularity after Hailey Bieber’s notable outing in Acne Studios’ puffed design. From Emily Ratajkowski to Kylie Jenner, celebrity frontiers have ignited the trend under Los Angeles spotlights, charging a 183% spike on EDITED search platforms.

Supreme is always ahead of the curve, seeing leather bomber jackets appear in seven styles across its Fall 2023 collection. From woven Bottega Veneta-esque options to GORE-TEX-infused windstoppers, leather bombers grew into commonality through quiet luxury escorted by high-quality craftsmanship. Leather bombers will refresh 2024 with exaggerated collars, multi-use zippers, and bulbous silhouettes championing oversized capabilities.

Gorpcore uniforms will transition into clean utilitarian styles in 2024. The former has phased out throughout the year with laidback archetypes grounded in technicality, seeing pocketed outerwear merge with formal tailoring for a versatile look. Outdoor exploration will move into the new year with an adventurous mindset led by reigning brands looking to push you into the wild. UNIQLO is the answer to everyday uniforms with practical accents, utilizing resistant fabrics on essential items that combat aggressive weather conditions.

According to EDITED, corporate attire will be the strongest trend of the new year, seeing masculine styles reign supreme amongst top-tier runway shows by Maison Margiela and Prada during Spring/Summer 2024. While we’ve already seen receptionist glasses come into fashion, strong-shouldered blazers with oversized outlines also dominated the FROW in New York, London, Milan, and Paris – with blazers having leaped up in popularity by 167% in 2023. A$AP Rocky’s papped-out Bottega Veneta campaign has also taken “Yuppiecore” to new levels, while Billie Eilish‘s grunge tailoring has sprung Gen-Z into action.

Leather and denim revived formal dressing at Pharrell WilliamsPre-Fall 2024 destination show for Louis Vuitton, with the two trending materials revitalizing suitwear with slouchy pinstriped patterns and silver-printed monograms. Vuitton’s new collection embodied the trends we’ll see next year; with dual-fabrics joining on inflated bombers, while webbed jorts and double-breasted formalwear also jumped on continuing trends — cementing LV’s on-the-pulse aesthetic under Williams.
